What does it mean to play for RED Academy?

RED Academy teams provide a elite training above the rep level. We prioritize a fun and competitive environment for the players to learn and develop. We ensure a holistic, nurturing home for players to also grow as people. Teams are coached by experienced, knowledgeable, and qualified coaches.

What is the RED Academy Player Pathway?

RED Academy provide players with opportunities to continue playing the game after graduating from the club.

Our club is proud to help develop players who have gone on to play in USPORTS, CCAA, and NCAA programs. In addition to post secondary opportunities, RED have partnered with Guelph United in League1 Ontario. This partnership provides our players with a direct pathway League1 opportunities. RED has graduated 30+ players to the GUFC program since the 2021.

Coach Peter and Coach Stuart are the head coaches of the Women's and Men's Varsity programs at Conestoga College. Peter previously worked in the OUA as the head coach of the Waterloo Warriors for 15 years.  RED will work with players on an individual level to help them find the next step in their soccer pathways after RED. Our team of staff have the connections and expertise to find a home for players.

Where do RED Academy teams play?

As a member of Ontario Soccer, RED Academy teams play out of the Southwest Soccer district. Regional teams play in the Western Regional Soccer League - iModel starting at U13.

When and where do teams train and play games?

Our program runs for 10 months from November to August. All teams train 2-3 times per week throughout the winter, and 3+ sessions in the spring/summer.

Our leagues begin in May and run until the end of August. Competitive teams may play in the PISL Indoor League.

Our teams practice at a number of indoor facilities in the Waterloo Region including RIM Park, Bechtel, UW Field House, and Marden.

Outdoor training will be held in Waterloo at RIM Park or Westmount Sports Fields.

RED Academy Leadership

The Academy Program is led by our Academy Director, Peter Mackie. Peter is no stranger to the Kitchener-Waterloo Region and surrounding communities. With over 30 years of professional playing and coaching experience, Peter leads all academy programming at RED Academy of Soccer. In addition to his role with RED, Mackie is also the Head Coach of the men's/women's varsity soccer programs at Conestoga College.
